7 Steps to Success on Foursquare

Still wondering if your business should be on Foursquare? Let us help you make a decision:

Foursquare is a free app that helps people make the most of where they are, to find new places to go, and check in to tell their friends where they are and what’s great. This network already has over 30 million people worldwide, with millions more every day! Consequently, there are over a million business using the Merchant Platform.

The fact is that people love Foursquare and there are many ways you can take advantage of that to grow your business:

  • Drive customers into your store and get them spending more, more often.
  • Help locals and travelers find you when they’re in the neighborhood.
  • Highlight menu items, services and products and reward new and frequent customers.
  • Tell your customers about the arrival of a new item or line, special promotion, complimentary reward, upcoming event, or new offerings.

Whether you manage a single location or a national chain, you can use Foursquare’s free tools to attract and reward customers. Here’s how you should do it:

1. Make sure you have a personal account: sign up or log in.

2. Let people find you!

Someone who loves your business might’ve already listed you on Foursquare. Claim your business to manage your listing and get access to free tools and data.
Can’t find your business? Add a location. Once you’ve found or added your business, click “claim here” on the bottom right of the page.

4. Tell customers you’re on Foursquare!

Foursquare will send you a window cling. Use it and remind customers to check in (and tell their friends about you) or like your business on Foursquare. If a cling is not the best option for your business, Foursquare lets you use their logo, icon, or cling graphic for any in-store signage.

5. Engage and Reward!

As we’ve mentioned before, engagement is essential if you want to be successful in any social network. That’s not different on Foursquare. Attract new customers or reward loyal ones by posting engaging updates, listing events, or offering specials to tempt people to stop by your business.


6. Advertise!

Work with Foursquare to get your content in front of even more customers!

7. Use Foursquare analytics.

The Foursquare free analytics tools give you informations such as who’s coming for the first time, who comes more often, what people are saying about your business, how many check-ins you’re getting each week, and how many of those are being shared on Facebook and Twitter. Keeping track of your custumers will help you learn more about them and, consequently, learn how to engage with them efficiently.

Your company on Linkedin!

Now that you have your Linkedin profile effectively set up you’re ready to move forward and showcase your business where millions of members can go to stay in the loop on company news, products and services, business opportunities and job openings.

Your company page on Linkedin will be made up of four tabs:

  • Overview: This tab will provide an introduction to your business. Members will see your company posts and product releases, as well as friends & colleagues who are connected to the business.
  • Products and Services: Here you highlight your products or services. In this tab, members can leave you public recommendations on each product or service you showcased.
  • Analytics: This tab is only visible to administrators of your Company Page. It provides you with ways to measure your followers, visitors, engagement and page effectiveness.
  • Carreers: This is the only tab that requires a paid subscription to be used. With this feature you can post any job on LinkedIn and it will automatically appear in this section. It also allows you to tell your story, describe your culture, outline career paths, showcase awards and philanthropy, showcase your best employees, and tailor your messaging and job postings to target audiences.

Ready to start? Then follow the 5 steps bellow to set up your company page:
1- Log in to your Linkedin Profile
2- Click Companies on the center of the top menu tab
3- Click the Add a Company link in the upper right area of the page.
4- Enter your company’s official name and your work email address.
5- Click Continue and enter your company information.

We encourage you to create a high-level overview of your business, then go ahead and start a conversation by sharing company status updates. You can post articles, company news and promotions. Just make sure your posts are interesting to your network and professional.

3 Ways to Improve your Linkedin Profile

Last Wednesday, Linkedin announced it had passed an important milestone: 200 million members! The job or client of your dreams might come through this amazing business-oriented social network, so you definitely want to be involved in Linkedin!

Here are 3 tips to improve your Linkedin profile:

1. Professional Information and Profile Photos on Linkedin.

Make sure you have all your professional information updated and free of spelling and grammatical errors. Here is a video to help you get started:

For your profile photo, keep in mind that simple is better. Upload a simple headshot with a white background. In the photo you should wear attire that reflects the atmosphere of the profession that you’re currently in, or hoping to join. If you’re feeling bold, use a professionally shot image of yourself in action. For example, if you’re a public speaker, an image of yourself working a crowd onstage will give potential clients or employers a visual sense of what you’re capable of.

2. Use Linkedin for Networking.

One thing that all social networks have in common: they all require engagement to be successful!

With 200 million members and a new member joining approximately every two seconds, Linkedin is an excellent way to stand out in your field if you connect with the right people. Connect with people you know well or people you’ve worked with both inside and outside of your own industry. Keep in mind that connecting with someone on Linkedin communicates to your network that you can vouch for that person on a professional level, which is different from sending friend requests to your old high school buddies on Facebook.

In case you want to connect with people you desire to know on LinkedIn, the best way to start is by joining a group you have in common and strike up a conversation. Also as part of your network, follow companies you admire and, of course, follow your own company and share relevant updates.

3. Keep it professional.

It’s important to always keep in mind that Linkedin must have a different approach from your other social networks. Save your casual updates for Facebook, Twitter or Google+. Here you want to highlight your professional prowess.

Post unique content that your company has developed or share industry stories that you think your network will find interesting. According to Linkedin, professionals who share articles or content with their Linkedin network at least once a week are nearly ten times more likely to be contacted by a recruiter for new opportunities than people who don’t share with their network.
