7 Steps to Success on Foursquare

Still wondering if your business should be on Foursquare? Let us help you make a decision:

Foursquare is a free app that helps people make the most of where they are, to find new places to go, and check in to tell their friends where they are and what’s great. This network already has over 30 million people worldwide, with millions more every day! Consequently, there are over a million business using the Merchant Platform.

The fact is that people love Foursquare and there are many ways you can take advantage of that to grow your business:

  • Drive customers into your store and get them spending more, more often.
  • Help locals and travelers find you when they’re in the neighborhood.
  • Highlight menu items, services and products and reward new and frequent customers.
  • Tell your customers about the arrival of a new item or line, special promotion, complimentary reward, upcoming event, or new offerings.

Whether you manage a single location or a national chain, you can use Foursquare’s free tools to attract and reward customers. Here’s how you should do it:

1. Make sure you have a personal account: sign up or log in.

2. Let people find you!

Someone who loves your business might’ve already listed you on Foursquare. Claim your business to manage your listing and get access to free tools and data.
Can’t find your business? Add a location. Once you’ve found or added your business, click “claim here” on the bottom right of the page.

4. Tell customers you’re on Foursquare!

Foursquare will send you a window cling. Use it and remind customers to check in (and tell their friends about you) or like your business on Foursquare. If a cling is not the best option for your business, Foursquare lets you use their logo, icon, or cling graphic for any in-store signage.

5. Engage and Reward!

As we’ve mentioned before, engagement is essential if you want to be successful in any social network. That’s not different on Foursquare. Attract new customers or reward loyal ones by posting engaging updates, listing events, or offering specials to tempt people to stop by your business.

                

6. Advertise!

Work with Foursquare to get your content in front of even more customers!

7. Use Foursquare analytics.

The Foursquare free analytics tools give you informations such as who’s coming for the first time, who comes more often, what people are saying about your business, how many check-ins you’re getting each week, and how many of those are being shared on Facebook and Twitter. Keeping track of your custumers will help you learn more about them and, consequently, learn how to engage with them efficiently.
